Our client – an entrepreneurial law firm is looking for a Patent Attorney/Agent for their budding IP Practice in San Francisco – virtual work available. Responsibilities will include talking to inventors and clients, drafting patent applications, performing patent searches, drafting opinions, and responding to office actions. You will perform substantive and critical work and have many learning opportunities to rapidly upskill. Their clients are primarily startups, and you will have the opportunity to work with and develop a relationship with exciting new, early-stage companies that are at the forefront of technology. There are no billable hours because they care about the quality of the work product, not how long it took to create it.

Requirements:

Ability to perform quality legal work in drafting patent applications, responding to office actions, searching, and drafting opinions

Strong academic background in the sciences or engineering

Experience prosecuting patent applications

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities:

Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications.
Work with company engineers and scientists to identify patentable inventions and evaluate invention disclosures.
Provide strategic advice and counsel on various intellectual property matters.
Utilize creative approaches to intellectual property strategy, portfolio development, and litigation.
Identify infringement and evaluate opportunities to enforce intellectual property rights.
Minimize adverse intellectual property litigation outcomes.
Collaborate with attorneys.
