Tonkon Torp LLP is looking for a senior environmental and natural resources attorney with a minimum of five years of experience to join our Environmental & Natural Resources practice. The position is based in our Portland, Oregon office, with a hybrid work schedule. In this position, the qualified attorney will mentor associates, develop client relationships, engage in business development, and perform transaction and litigation work to support the group.

The qualified candidate will have experience assisting clients with environmental regulatory compliance, including advising, permitting, and working with administrative agencies to address issues under federal and state environmental schemes. The qualified candidate should have knowledge and experience working with the Clean Water Act, RCRA, Superfund, the Clean Air Act, and their state equivalents. The qualified candidate should have experience advising clients on the environmental aspects of real estate and corporate transactions including identifying and allocating environmental risks, negotiating and drafting environmental provisions of transaction documents, and obtaining and reviewing environmental site assessments and other diligence materials. A technical or scientific background is a plus.

Skills needed for this role:

JD from an accredited university;
Engagement in the PNW community;
Experience and interest as described above;
Desire to invest in yourself and your career and mentor associates;
Desire to develop client relationships;
Detail oriented and ability to produce client-ready documents; and
Membership in good standing in the Oregon bar.
