Our firm has four intellectual property attorneys who handle a broad range of matters, including patent and trademark prosecution, licensing, and litigation. This is a great opportunity for a recent law school graduate who is interested in learning from experienced attorneys and developing a practice of their own.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an associate Intellectual Property attorney who has recently graduated from law school and is eager to launch their career and contribute to our firm’s success. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, licensed to practice in Indiana or Texas, and have excellent communication and writing skills and a proactive approach to client service.
Being a registered patent attorney with the USPTO is preferred, although candidates that are not patent attorneys will be considered. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who is a great personality fit for our close-knit team and is motivated to contribute to and grow our firm and their practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing legal advice and representation to clients on various intellectual property matters, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
- Prepare, file, and prosecute patent and/or trademark applications with the USPTO.
- Support senior attorneys in managing global IP portfolios and foreign agent relationships.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to intellectual property rights.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support client needs.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing proactive and responsive legal services to facilitate comprehensive and effective client support.
- Contribute to the firm’s business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and building a personal book of business.
- Assist with IP litigation efforts.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the state bar (preferably Texas or Indiana) and in good standing
- Strong academic record and a demonstrated interest in intellectual property law
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to management multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Pay: $125,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
