Annual Salary:
$80,000-$94,000 depending on duties and experience plus benefits, medical and pension contribution.
Additional Incentives:
· Moving expense stipend up to $5000
· Signing bonus of $10,000 allocated over three years.

Juris Doctorate
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado.

About the Position
The Office of the District Attorney offers an exciting opportunity for a challenging career in criminal trial work. Deputy District Attorney II prepares and presents cases before all courts within the district. The ideal candidate will be a person of integrity and will possess a passion for justice. The elected District Attorney is the chief law enforcement office in the district and is responsible for the prosecution of violations of Colorado State Laws. The current 3rd Judicial District Attorney is Henry Solano.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform professional level work for criminal prosecution of felony offenses.
· Evaluate evidence and facts.
· Determine nature of crimes committed and authorize issuance of criminal complaints.
· Interview prospective witnesses and develop cases for prosecution.
· Prepare briefs and engage in trail practice.
· Render legal advice to law enforcement agencies.
· Attend arraignments, pre-trial conferences, and sentencing conferences in assigned areas.
· Prepare and present jury trials and trials to the Court.
· Assist other District Court & County Court Deputies in trials, as required.
· Assist citizens on the phone or walk-in clients.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management, public groups, boards of directors, and the courts.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

Location:
This position may be based in either Trinidad or Walsenburg with the expectation that travel will occasionally occur between the Las Animas and Huerfano County courthouses.
