The Intellectual Property Paralegal will perform a variety of intellectual property related support for IP attorneys to whom assigned according to established policies and procedures. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting attorneys in executing legal transactions for intellectual property, and with securing, preparing, drafting, and processing legal documents. The IP Paralegal will also file documents with appropriate entities in accordance with legal requirements.

We are looking for a candidate who will own patent paralegal prosecution duties, utilizing broad knowledge of patent prosecution procedures, databases, functions, general operating methods and policies of ST’s Law Department and the company.
Must be a team player with a positive, professional attitude, have strong follow-up skills, strong attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist patent attorneys with all aspects of patent prosecution, including drafting and filing patent applications, responses to office actions, and other related documents.
- Support the patent docketing system and ensure accurate and timely tracking of deadlines and filing requirements.
- Prepare and file documents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), PCT Receiving Offices and provide communications to foreign associates.
- Conduct initial trademark and patent searches for attorney review.
- Manage and organize electronic patent files, as well as other corporate and legal files.
- Provide general support to patent attorneys and other members of the legal team, as needed.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- HS Diploma
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Accuracy in work product with excellent proofreading skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and follow-up skills Preferred qualifications:
- 1-3 years of recent Patent Prosecution paralegal experience and/or IP paralegal training
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and able to use multiple software applications
- Solid understanding of patent intellectual property
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision
- Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly ramp on new systems and processes
