Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Legal Assistant to join our dynamic law office. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in various legal tasks, ensuring efficient case management and adherence to deadlines. This role requires a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures, as well as proficiency in legal research and document preparation.
Duties
- Assist attorneys with legal drafting, including motions, pleadings, and correspondence.
- Conduct thorough research using tools such as Westlaw to support case preparation.
- Manage legal case files and maintain organized documentation for easy retrieval.
- Review and summarize legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws.
- Provide clerical support, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and filing documents.
- Utilize PCLaw for billing and time tracking purposes.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case status.
- Support patent law processes by preparing necessary documentation and filings.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role within a law office setting.
- Familiarity with legal case management software, particularly Westlaw and PCLaw.
- Strong clerical skills with attention to detail in document review and legal drafting.
- Knowledge of patent law is a plus but not mandatory.
- Excellent research skills with the ability to interpret complex legal information.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for daily tasks.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
