Description
The firm seeks a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Associate or Patent Agent to join its growing and dynamic Intellectual Property Practice Group. The position is available in the Houston office, with highly qualified candidates in Atlanta also considered. Candidates must have experience in IP with drafting and patent prosecution, a degree in mechanical engineering (advanced degrees and/or relevant work experience prior to law school strongly preferred), and USPTO membership. Familiarity with machinery, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical systems is also required. IP transactional experience is a plus. Associates should have 4 or more years of experience, while patent agents should have 5 or more years. For the Houston office, candidates must be licensed to practice law in Texas or have the ability to become licensed soon. For the Atlanta office, candidates must be licensed to practice law in Georgia.

- Manage all aspects of global portfolio strategy and management, including obtaining IP rights in the US and abroad.

Qualifications List
- Minimum 4 years of experience for associates or 5 years for patent agents in IP, including patent prosecution and drafting.
- Degree in mechanical engineering; advanced degrees and/or relevant work experience preferred.
- USPTO membership required.
- Familiarity with machinery, mechanical, and/or electro-mechanical systems.
- IP transactional experience is a plus.
- For associates in Houston, must be licensed to practice law in Texas or be able to become licensed. For associates in Atlanta, must be licensed in Georgia.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge and experience with other forms of intellectual property protection are a plus.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $250,000.00 per year
