Reports To: Director, Risk Management
Position Description:The Underwriter will Work closely with sales team to ensure proper and timely pricing for submissions for workers’ compensation coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and assess the prospect’s history and operations to assess risk and pricing
- Liaise with insurance carriers and brokers to provide correct and timely submissions and pricing
- Use sound judgment to accept, reject or modify new and renewal business for workers' compensation insurance, with guidance to ensure a profitable book of business
- Price business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines and ensure standards for timeliness are met
- Keep up-to-date with underwriting and pricing guidelines per each state and carrier
- Review and become familiar with: policy coverages, agency relationships, underwriting and team guidelines, processes, and procedures, company business strategy and organization
- Be a subject matter expert to the company on proper codes, pricing rates and workers’ compensation coverage issues
- Work with management and risk management colleagues to enhance knowledge and experience in: underwriting techniques and decision making methods, problem solving methods, sales
- Create and manage processes for the Underwriting team to improve efficiencies and to leverage Prestige’s CRM
- Provide ancillary services including completing of ERM 14, review of COI, assist with policy renewal and audits
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree desired; or equivalent education and/or related work experience
- 5 years prior experience underwriting workers compensation insurance – especially in a PEO setting
- Any Insurance Institute programs including ARM and CPCU designations preferred
Salary range based on experience. Between $110 - 120K
