Job Title: Patent Specialist

Job Description: Our client is seeking a Patent Specialist to handle the day-to-day operations for the VP. The main responsibility will be the upkeep of an existing portfolio of approximately 250-300 cases, organized in folders. The assistant will help maintain all files and add important dates to the calendar to keep track of upcoming deadlines.

This is a fully remote contract role with flexible hours.

Responsibilities

Assist in the preparation and filing of patent applications, including gathering technical data and supporting documentation.
Help manage and maintain the company’s patent portfolio, tracking important deadlines and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
Prepare and review basic patent-related documents, working with internal teams to gather necessary information.
Support communication between internal teams (RD, legal, etc.) and external patent counsel.
Assist with general IP administrative tasks, such as filing and updating records.

Must-Have Skills

Basic understanding of patents
Legal administrative experience
Proficiency in Excel and MS Office Suite
Data management skills
Paralegal skills
Experience with filing system software, filing, and docketing

Nice-to-Have Skills

Administrative support
Executive administrative assistance
Experience in life sciences or biotech

Additional Skills Qualifications

Bachelors degree
Strong organizational and communication skills

Work Environment

This person can work 100% remote.
