Title: Intellectual Property Counsel

Main Objective: Responsible for a broad range of IP services in order to protect the organization's legal interests and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute US patent applications.
- Manage patent and trademark portfolios.
- Management of outside counsel working on IP-related matters.
- Supporting/lead role in the development of patentability, validity, infringement, freedom-to-practice opinions and patent searching.
- Frequent interaction with the R&D and product development teams.
- Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
Education and Experience:
- Must also be a graduate of an accredited law school and a member in good standing of a state bar.
- Must be a registered US patent attorney, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience, well grounded in patent drafting and prosecution, preferably on a world-wide basis.
- Specific experience in orthopedic industries is preferred.
- Experience with surgical planning software, medical imaging, endoscope technology, virtual reality, and machine learning are all desirable.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Advanced Writing, Comprehensive Reading, Communication And Research Skills Required.
Electronic based legal research experience required.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
MS Office, PC, printer, copiers and other miscellaneous office equipment
