Job Announcement
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1) Assistance with management of office calendars, general office workflow,
correspondence, customers/client, staff training and travel, office mail,
supplies, and other aspects of effective operation for the Office of
Counsel.
2) Administrative support to Office of Counsel patent attorneys for
management of the command's patent program.
3) Administrative support for the command's ethics program, including
managing ethics advice requests and associated correspondence, managing new
employee and annual ethics training, and administration of public and
confidential financial disclosure reports required under federal law.
4) Administrative support to Office of Counsel attorneys for matters in
litigation, including case file organization, records management, and
preparation of documents.
5) Researching legal sources to assist in preparation of written materials
and other resources supporting various areas of Office of Counsel practice,
including civilian personnel law, administrative law, federal acquisition
law, ethics, and property law.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requested
1) Experience using Windows 10, Microsoft Office and Adobe Professional
software applications and operating other office equipment (copiers,
scanners, fax machines) in the course of completing assigned work.
2) Ability to learn or knowledge of statutes, regulations, and
organizational information for the Department of Defense, Department of the
Navy, and Naval Sea Systems Command.
3) Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and to
draft accurate and grammatically correct non-technical correspondence with
supervision.
4) Knowledge of computerized legal research resources such as Lexis,
Westlaw, and in the use of other public federal and state legal resources.
5) Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing deadlines and to
work under pressure.
6) Ability to learn or knowledge of federal, Department of Defense and
Department of the Navy Ethics, Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, and
records managements regulation, instructions and policies.
7) Ability to learn automated data management systems and capabilities in
order to support management programs, priorities, and objectives.
