The Life Science Patent Agent can be located in either our Charlotte, Chicago, New York or Washington, D.C. office. Katten offers a hybrid work model, allowing the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely on a regular basis (KattenFlex).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following. Other duties may be requested and/or assigned. - The position will involve assisting attorneys with patent counseling, portfolio analysis, patent opinion work, post grant proceedings, and litigation support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Candidates must have 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution in areas such as pharmaceuticals, biosimilars, natural products and ag-bio.
- The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, biology or a comparable degree.
- Registration before the USPTO is required for the position.
- Must have excellent academic credentials, strong research, writing and analytical skills, and the ability to work well on a team.
The estimated salary range for this role is $100,000 - $200,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
