Successful intellectual property law firm in downtown Minneapolis is looking for a detailed oriented individual to work remote or in the office. We specializing in patents and trademarks. We are looking for an eager and detailed oriented employee to add to our staff! We have a wonderful team of attorneys, patent agents, and IP Specialists (Paralegals).

Job Description

Must have a minimum of 5+ years of patent and/or trademark paralegal experience. Assists attorney’s and patent agents with the preparation, filing and prosecution of domestic and foreign trademark and patent applications. Requires high attention to detail and management of deadlines. Works closely with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and Foreign Associates.

Role will assist attorneys and patent agents in the clearance and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patents and trademarks. Duties include, but are not limited to:

Review and manage daily docketing deadlines
Complete and submit appropriate USPTO forms for patent application filing and prosecution
Preparing and forwarding Information Disclosure Statements (IDS)
Assist with preparing Office Action responses and filings
Assist with preparing and forwarding client communications, including letters, emails, etc.
Prepare other documents such as Power of Attorney (POA), Declaration of Use, Certificate of Registration, Clearance Opinions, etc.
Upload applicable documents to client databases as necessary
Organize and maintain client files and keep up-to-date
Receive incoming mail and manage appropriately
Communicate with attorney’s and clients regarding upcoming deadlines
Time entry of billable attorney’s time into TABS3 in preparation for billing
May communicate with inventors to obtain signed documentation when filing with the USPTO
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Ability to provide excellent verbal and written correspondence in a professional manner

Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

Work independently with minimal supervision and be part of a team

Willingness and ability to learn laws and understand regulations

Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
