Our client, a leading law firm with a robust international practice, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Patent Paralegal to join their team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, supporting a variety of patent-related matters. This role is available in Kalamazoo, MI, with additional office locations in Ann Arbor, Bloomfield Hills, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate domestic and international patent filings with the USPTO and foreign law offices/entities.
Maintain docket systems to track deadlines for responses, renewals, oppositions, Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) requirements, and patent annuity payments in foreign jurisdictions.
Prepare and file documents with the USPTO and foreign counsel.
Draft and record assignments, client correspondence, and status summary reports for attorneys and clients.
Review and act on correspondence received from foreign associates.
Obtain legalizations and certifications for patent-related documents.
Conduct research and compile information related to national and international patent rights, including USPTO records and industry databases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal certification preferred.
A minimum of two years of experience in patent work, including prosecution, maintenance, and renewals.
Strong understanding of U.S. and foreign patent processes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and patent management tools such as Innovation, PATTSY, Lexis/Nexis, or similar databases.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage a high volume of work under minimal supervision.
Exceptional attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
A commitment to professionalism and a willingness to learn and adapt to new tools and processes.
