Job Title: Patent Prosecution - Patent Agent (Chemistry) – Organic/Medicinal Chemistry Expertise

Location: Washington, DC
Pay: $130,000 - $230,000 + bonus eligibility
Schedule: Hybrid (On-site approximately 60% of the time)

Our client, a leading Am Law 100 firm, offers advanced patent law services for clients in the chemical and life sciences industries. The Washington, DC office is seeking a Patent Agent with a Ph.D. in organic or medicinal chemistry to support its growing IP Prosecution team. This role offers hands-on experience with clients developing innovative technologies and managing complex patent portfolios.

Conduct and analyze scientific literature and patent documents across chemical fields
Draft and file patent applications, manage prosecution, and respond to USPTO actions
Support clients with freedom-to-operate analyses and IP due diligence
Collaborate closely with clients and inventors to build impactful IP portfolios

What you need to succeed:

USPTO admission required
Ph.D. in Organic or Medicinal Chemistry (or 3+ years post-baccalaureate lab experience)
At least 2 years of patent prosecution experience
Excellent analytical and communication skills
