Position Overview:
An established Intellectual Property law firm is seeking an experienced Patent Attorney with a background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering for a contract position. The ideal candidate should be fluent in Mandarin (both reading and writing) and have at least 5 years of experience as a Patent Attorney. This position offers the flexibility of working the following locations: New York, Florida, Illinois, Virgina, Connecticut, Texas or California. If you are located by one of the offices (New York City, Los Angeles or Chicago), in person work may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and prosecute patent applications for U.S. and international patents across various technologies.
- Provide expert client counseling on issues related to patentability, infringement, and validity.
- Communicate effectively with clients in both Mandarin and English.
- Maintain and grow client relationships with a focus on delivering high-quality legal services.
- Collaborate with internal teams to support clients' business and technical goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Admitted to the Bar in a U.S. state
- Undergraduate degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Fluent in Mandarin, with the ability to read, write, and speak the language.
- 5+ years of experience as a Patent Attorney.
- Experience handling telecommunications, network products, internet-related hardware/software, and e-commerce technologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate comfortably at all levels of client interaction.
- A record of providing legal services in a timely, accurate, and professional manner.Preferred Qualifications:
- Book of business is preferred, though not required.
