Senior Trademark Paralegal

Summary
Senior Trademark Paralegals have the technical skill and professional maturity to operate independently with minimal guidance from attorneys. They perform a range of tasks that assist the firm in providing legal services to clients, including some tasks that might otherwise be assigned to associates, all under the supervision of attorneys.
Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary trademark database searches on SAEGIS and perform initial analysis of search results; order comprehensive searches; conduct follow-up and status inquiries; and conduct general Internet searches
- Prepare US Trademark Applications, including the collection and review of supporting documents/materials
- Correspond with foreign trademark counsel regarding initiation of trademark searches and prosecution of trademark applications
- Communicate with clients regarding requirements for submitting trademark applications
- Prepare trademark status reports upon request from client or attorney
- Communicate with Patent and Trademark Office
- Research and investigate potential trademark conflicts; and investigate companies with potentially conflicting name or trademark
- Instruct docketing on updates to Trademark Database, review and update weekly docket calendar report, participate is regularly scheduled docket meetings
- Assist with preparation of Copyright applications
- Provide training to case assistants and junior paralegals
- All other duties as assigned or required
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of trademark prosecution experience
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive details
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and all levels of personnel and handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating initiative, diplomacy and tact when under pressure
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, advanced knowledge of Excel preferred
