Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Patent Litigation Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of legal procedures and law, particularly in patent and other complex federal litigation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and proficiency in document management systems. The Litigation Paralegal will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys throughout the litigation process.
Duties
- Assist attorneys in preparing for trials, hearings, and meetings by organizing case files and documents.
- Conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw to gather relevant case law and statutes.
- Draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, contracts, and discovery requests.
- Manage case files through document management systems to ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Maintain communication with clients, witnesses, and experts to facilitate case progression.
- Organize and track deadlines for filings and court appearances to ensure compliance with legal timelines.
- Support project management efforts by coordinating tasks among team members and tracking progress on various cases.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in paralegal studies or a related field.
- Proven experience as a paralegal with a focus on patent litigation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Illinois state and federal procedure and filing requirements.
- Proficient in document management systems and Westlaw.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
