A highly regarded national law firm is in search of a skilled and ambitious Associate to join their Intellectual Property division. The ideal candidate should possess expertise in patent and trademark prosecution, as well as IP transactions.
Candidate Profile:
- Hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a leading law school with an impressive academic background.
- Must be admitted to the Bar in Florida, Georgia, California, DC, New Jersey, or New York.
- Have accumulated 2-5 years of practical experience in patent and trademark prosecution and IP transactions.
- Having a USPTO registration number or eligibility for the patent bar is highly desirable.
- Excellent academic credentials along with effective written and verbal communication skills and sound judgment are prerequisites.
- Prior experience in negotiating and drafting intellectual property transactions and software agreements will be considered a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage day-to-day prosecution dockets and prepare USPTO filings.
- Conduct comprehensive patent and trademark searches, prepare clearance opinions/advice, and respond to office actions.
- Negotiate and draft IP transaction and software agreements.
- Conduct IP due diligence for M&A transactions and prepare appropriate documentation.
- Maintain consistent communication with clients and collaborate with other attorneys within the firm.
