Job Summary:
You will play a key role in the protection and enforcement of our clients' intellectual property rights, primarily including the preparation and prosecution of patents. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts effectively to various stakeholders. You will work closely with clients, engineers, and scientists to navigate complex legal issues and provide strategic advice on patent matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
- Coordinate with counsel in foreign jurisdictions to facilitate the filing and prosecution of foreign patent applications
- Conduct patentability assessments, freedom-to-operate analyses, and due diligence investigations
- Advise clients on patent strategy, including portfolio management and licensing agreements
- Conduct prior art searches and analyze patent landscapes to inform innovation strategies
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand technical aspects of inventions and innovations
- Assist in patent litigation and enforcement matters as needed
- Stay updated on changes in patent law and regulations, as well as industry trends
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
- Familiarity with international patent laws and practices
