JOB DESCRIPTION
Alston & Bird has an exciting, entry-level opportunity for a driven individual to break into the in-demand field of IP Patent Prosecution. Our IP Clerks are resourceful, flexible and eager to learn. In this role, you will provide a wide-range of support to a busy IP law practice while being trained in various aspects of IP. Many of our experienced staff members started as clerks and we are looking for individuals who want to grow with us. Alston & Bird is seeking an individual with attention to detail, the ability to multitask and proven aptitude to quickly learn new applications and processes.
Essential Duties:

General knowledge of Intellectual Property foreign patent prosecution procedures.

Administrative tasks include filing, completing forms, organizing documents, distribution of mail and general support to the Foreign Paralegal Team and IP Patents Group.

Enter and track due dates into matter management system.

Review USPTO and outside counsel correspondence, enter new cases and new due dates.

Generate docket reports.

Communicate with USPTO, attorneys, paralegals, liaisons, foreign associates and staff about docketing and foreign prosecution matters.

Assist in quality assurance review for patent filings by noting and referring any errors or omissions during docketing to attorneys.

Advanced knowledge of PC applications, including the entire suite of MS Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Bachelor’s degree preferred.

1 year of prior administrative experience preferred.
