Position Overview:
The Docketing Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the Firm’s computerized docketing system. This role involves managing all aspects of patent filings, due dates, and records for U.S. and international patent cases. The ideal candidate will work closely with attorneys, patent agents, and assistants to ensure deadlines are met and records are up-to-date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage daily maintenance and operation of the Firm’s computerized docketing system.
- Docket all incoming correspondence from:
- International patent offices
- Record and track prosecution and interference due dates for U.S. patent cases, including:
- Process cases for abandonment and handle data entry for cases transferred to/from the Firm.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all data entered into the system:
- Enter data for new U.S. and foreign patent cases, interferences, and litigation matters.
- Review and verify all entries daily.
- Clear completed due dates in the docketing system based on attorney/assistant instructions.
- Generate docket reports as requested by attorneys and secretaries.
- Maintain historical records of services and filings, computing and calendaring due dates accordingly.
- Alert attorneys, patent agents, and assistants to received notices and impending deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5-8+ years of U.S. and foreign docketing experience.
- Proficiency in computerized docketing systems; experience with CPI required.
- Thorough understanding of U.S. Patent filing, prosecution, and registration procedures.
- Proficiency in MS Office and WordPerfect.
- Strong attention to detail and high-quality work output.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and perform under pressure.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive information.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
